Hungry Eyes…

Hungry Eyes is a multimedia project that seeks to educate the viewer on the growing use and influence of social media within the food world. The viewer is presented with a dining set for two as if at any fine dining restaurant. While the viewer might expect is a conventional fine dining experience, but they are left to consume with their sight only and not with their traditional senses of taste or smell. Instead,  the viewer  is left to experience only the visual aspect of the dining experience. This serves as as a commentary on the growing reliance of visual communication on what and where people choose to eat thanks to the rise of  social media such as Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. The viewer is invited to utilize the iPad in order to access an Augmented Reality that combines the visual and digital culinary experience by  combining cultural culinary consumption habits and traditional eating . This project at its core explores the use of visuals within social media to ask: what is the impact of social media on society, especially within food culture in general?
